Hello readers. Just checking in with you after a bbq at my son and future daughter-in-law’s house. They are settling into their new place. September 20th and the wedding will be here before you know it!!

This is a book that I received for free from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. This book was released in Sept. 2013 by Createspace. It is 228 pages. I read this one on my kindle. This is her first novel.

The Mother-in-Law Cure is a modern day fairy tale that chronicles the rise of the book’s central character, Humara from orphan to power matriarch in an affluent family. Humara’s influence spans generations and continents, but things are seldom as they appear. Humara’s prosperity is not simply good fortune but stems from something dark and sinister – as those who encounter her quickly begin to realize. It seems that nothing can stand in Humara’s way as she pulls the strings of those around her, until she meets the unlikeliest of nemesis. Another young orphan whose status in the household is little more than a servant will be the instrument of Humara’s demise. The Mother-in-Law Cure is an urban fantasy that takes you from Pakistan to the Middle East and back to the United States (Goodreads).

I give this novel points for creativity and originality. This book is intriguing and mysterious. What is the Mother-in-law’s secret and how does she always get what she wants? How will a mysterious potion solve all of Miriam’s (the daughter-in-law’s) problems? I found this to be a quick read. I finished it in only a couple of days. The characters are caught in the dilemma of following middle eastern traditions or breaking from them. What price will Miriam and Humara pay for getting their wishes fulfilled? In the end of the book the evil that is lurking through out is revealed. Boy that sounds ominous doesn’t it. LOL. I will be keeping an eye out for her next book. I give this one a 4 out of 5 stars.
